Les Lanterns de l’oubli

For this year’s 16-days campaign against gender-based violence, the Soroptimist International clubs of Geneva organized a ceremony Les Lanterns de l’oubli, sponsored by the UN Women Geneva UN Women and the City of Geneva to remember all the victims of femicide.
The event took place on December 2nd at “Bains des Paquis” in Geneva. A fellow representative of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organisations to the UN in Geneva, Lesya Nikolayeva, participated in the ceremony together with other activists to shine a spotlight on the importance of preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls, and raise a sense of urgency in the society to mobilize more efforts in ending violence against women and girls.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
